Things to do in the Jackman-Moose River Valley Region
MOOSE WATCHING
Moose watching has become a favorite activity for many of our guests. Just riding on Route 201 many moose can be seen.
There are miles of woods roads open to the public to give you a chance to get back into the wilderness for a glimpse of abundant wildlife.
Moose River Valley Cruises: Enjoy watching loons, eagles and other wildlife while enjoying a breath taking sunset cruise around Big Wood Lake aboard our own 30’party boat.
BICYCLING
For the easy ride to the steep hills, enjoy the beautiful scenery on or off the road.
Rentals available
HIKING
Take a scenic hike up Bald Mountain, #5 Mountain, Cat Heart, Sally Mountain or enjoy any of the numerous trails throughout this area that abounds in wildlife.
FISHING
Just across the street on Big Wood Pond or off the shores of the Moose River, salmon, brook trout, togue and smelt are plentiful.
Or if you prefer, a short drive (or float plane ride), will take you to many remote streams and ponds.
Guided trips available with a registered Maine Guide
ICE FISHING
An easy snowmobile ride onto Big Wood Pond to set your traps for great winter fishing. Rentable ice shacks are also available.
SNOWMOBILING
Snowmobile right to your front door, with the lodge located right on the trail in Jackman with direct access to ITS 89 and ITS-86 moments away. There are hundreds of miles of scenic well-groomed trails (Jackman is home of the 1998 Groomer of the Year!), gasoline, dealers and repair shops are conveniently located nearby or for the "do-it-yourselfer". We also provide a heated garage for our guest's own repairs.
HUNTING
Hunting is at its very best here in the thousands of wilderness acres of Moose River Valley. Many trophy size moose, deer and bear were taken by guests at the Lodge. One out of every eight deer bagged in Jackman were 200lbs or more.
Other great hunting includes partridge (ruffed grouse), woodcock, snowshoe hare and coyotes, to name a few. Excellent Registered Maine Guides are also available with advanced notice.
Our package plans are an excellent bargain and a great vacation choice.
FOLIAGE VIEWING
Enjoy the glorious changing of the leaves. The mountains blazing with color is a sight to be seen.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Cross-country skiing, float plane rides, golf course, canoe and boat rentals, whitewater rafting, antiques and just about anything else you so desire.
